A psychology major from the University of Oklahoma, the former Miss Congeniality has been a featured writer in many magazines including Redbook and Reader's Digest. Born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma, Diana has spent the last 25 years working in Hollywood, and currently resides in Malibu, California with her doggie, Miss Gracie.
Keynote speaker and veteran stand-up comedienne, Diana Jordan has been entertaining audiences for over twenty years. When Diana appeared on Oprah for the first time, Oprah Winfrey selected her as "One of the funniest people on the planet," right alongside Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams and Bill Cosby. She was on the show with her best-selling book, "A Wife's Little Instruction Book: Your Survival Guide to Marriage without Bloodshed," (Avon). The book title alone is enough to let you know that this is a woman who looks at life through her humor lens. The book obviously made the connection selling over 450,000 copies in five countries and five languages.
In addition to being a veteran stand-up comedienne, Diana is also an accomplished singer and actress. Her shows are rich with content, comedy and entertainment, and may even include a visit from Diana's alternate persona, the fabulous free–spirited octogenarian, Miss Pepper!
It was the application of humor to her own life circumstances that moved her want to share the gift of humor through motivational speaking. While caring for her mother as she battled with emphysema and heart disease during the last four years of her life, Diana's determination to make her mom laugh, dramatically improved her mother's life just as Dr. Patch Adams did with his patients. Diana and her mother both found that you can learn to have a sense of humor.
Unfortunately, Diana had to apply what she learned from the experience
with her mom to herself. In 2010 she was diagnosed with breast cancer- and underwent a mastectomy. She had breast cancer reconstruction surgery-,going a cup size bigger - okay, two cup sizes bigger (still tasteful!) and when asked at the airport if she was prepared to sit in the emergency row of the airplane Diana quipped, "Don't worry, I AM the flotation device!" Diana is a living testament to how her sense of humor got her through the difficult times. "People always tell me this is my journey. If that is so and life's a journey, then I most certainly forgot to pack!"
Whether she's getting the message out about women and heart disease or pulling out all the stops for a Girl's Night Out, Diana shares healthy positive coping strategies. She clearly demonstrates that our attitude equally impacts our health and ability to put things in perspective. Every group is left with laughter and a more positive way to deal successfully with a difficult problem or situation. Facts, laughter, music, and a genuine feeling for caring for others shine through Diana's sensational personality and energy. Everyone leaves feeling energized and informed.
Diana has lived in Athens, Greece, Hawaii (twice), Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and even did the starving actress/waitress in New York in an attempt to get on Broadway (the play closed). Her wanderlust has rewarded her with a bountiful life that has been full of excitement and adventure. This is why she now lives in Malibu. It's a small community and QUIET! Diana finds a lot of excitement and reward in her work as she feels she has truly found her niche in motivational speaking where she gets to combine her gift of comedy with her desire to share with people that they can learn to laugh. Through this, it is her greatest desire, "To heal the world one laugh at a time."
Diana has been nominated by the American Comedy Awards as one of the Top Five Female Comedians in the country. She was featured in the HBO special "Women of the Night" which spotlighted five top female comedians and also has two feature film roles to her credit including a performance in Sony's blockbuster hit "Jerry Maguire" with Tom Cruise and a co-starring credit in the independent film "Loretta's Surprise" that was featured in the Sundance Film Festival. Diana has been a featured performer on such notable television and radio shows as Oprah, Dr Phil, HBO, Showtime, The Bob & Tom Radio Show, and performed at such legendary venues including Radio City Music Hall and The Kennedy Center. Diana has also been Master of Ceremonies for many gala events where she presented such prestigious speakers as Former Secretary of State, General Colin Powell and Yolanda King.
